Sabudana Khichadi | Authentic Maharashtrian Style Khichadi | Sabudana Khichadi recipe

Cooking Time: 20min (Prerequisite - soak the Sago at least for 7 hrs)

Ingredients for Vada:
ItemQuantity
Sago or Shabudana1 Cup (before socking)
Potato2 In Quantity
Cumin seeds1 Tablespoon
Roasted Peanuts1/4 Cup
Coriander3  Tablespoons finely chopped
Green chili or Red Chili Powder 5 in quantity or 1 Table Spoon
Oil or ghee or butter5 Tablespoons
Sugar1 Tablespoon
SaltAs per test

Recipe:
  1. We need to wash the sago once and then, we need to start the procedure of socking the sago in water. We need to add 2 cups of water in one cup of sago, keep it with water for one hour, after that strain it and remove the excess water from sago, cover it and keep it aside for about 6 hours.
  2. It's lot more simple recipe, we just need to peel off the potatoes and make the small chips out of it. We need to cut the chips into small potions, its optional step, we can skip it and cut it in the pan itself, how? when it gets cooked.
  3. Let's start to make the khichadi, heat up the pan and add oil or ghee or butter in it. If we are using butter try to add half oil half butter, it will prevent the butter from burning.
  4. Add some cumin seeds, potato chips, finely chopped green chilli and mix it well. Cover it and cook it for a min, again mix it and cook it till potato get cooked. How do we get that? take a slice and try to break it. We don't want any crunch in a single slice of potato.
  5. Now we can break the slice of potato, if we want and if we didn't do it previously. It's totally optional, if we want to do that, we can use the spoon from which we are mixing it currently.  Just break the slice in 2 pieces.
  6. Now add the sago or shabudana, which we soaked for 7 hrs. Add a spoon of sugar, salt as per test and 4 tablespoons of crushed roasted peanuts.
  7. Mix it and cover it for a min on lower flame, again mix it and cover it for a min. And the good news is here our khichadi is ready to eat. Have fun! 😍
