Cooking Time: 30min (need to sock the batter for 20 min)

Ingredients for Appam:

Curd 1 Cup
Semolina or suji 1 Cup
Salt As per test
Onion 1 Big in size
Tomato 1 Big in size
Boiled green peas (Optional) 3 Tablespoons
Baking soda2 Pinch
Chopped Coriander 2 Tablespoons
Green Chili pepper 5 In quantity

Ingredients for Chutney:
Item Quantity
Yogurt 1 Table Spoon
Salt As per test
Desiccated coconut or fresh coconut 4 Tablespoons
Chopped Coriander 4 Tablespoons
Sugar 2 and 1/2 Tablespoons
Lemon juice 1 Tablespoon
Green chilli 1 In quantity
Ginger1cm portion
Roasted peanuts 2 Tablespoons

Recipe: 
  1. Let's make a row batter to give it a res till others will get done. Take a mixing bowl, add semolina or suji and yogurt mix it and keep it aside for 20 min.
  2. Now its time to cut the vegetables we are going to add. Chop the onion, tomato, green chilli, and coriander and add into our batter. We can also add some boiled green peas or chopped spinach or capsicum or carrot if you like.
  3. Now take a grinding jar for making chutney and add desiccated coconut, peanuts, sugar, ginger, lemon juice, a green chilli, yogurt, chopped coriander and salt as per test (around half teaspoon), grind it well once and after that add a half cup of water in it and grind it again. Our chutney is ready, keep the thickness as you like.
  4. Our chutney is ready, keep it aside, let's get back to the appam.
  5. Now after full rest of our batter, it is ready to make appam, add about 1 cup of water, which will give you some flowing consistency. We need this batter in some thinner way. Now we are going to add salt as per test and mix it well.
  6. Put the appam maker on gas and heat it up. After heating up add 3 to 4 drops of oil in every hole. 
  7. In our batter add baking soda and mix it well. Add this batter by spoon appam maker holes and cover it by a plate. Keep the gas on medium-low flame now, we need to this process very quick. 
  8. After a min of cooking you can flip it, now let it cook by anther side also (for a min). Add some drops of oil on another side also and your appam is ready to eat, serve it with chutney.

Tips:
1) You can also have it with tomato ketchup. 
2) Take a quick test after the batter is ready to make appam and chilli or salt as per your test.

People in India will have it as breakfast, some regions don't have idea about this kind of quick appam. It contains 200 calories in a plate. It's a very healthy breakfast or snack for kids.

You can add few more veggies in it, like deiced capsicum or carrot or green peas or chopped spinach. It includes curd, which contains rich important nutrition, high protein and it may benefit to heart health. In many regions of India, there are different styles of making appam.

Mostly in Maharashtra they would like to eat this kind of appam they called it appe. In South India they made appam using rice which we need to ferment for about 6 to 7 hours. We can use leftover idli batter for making appam.
